Regulations

To successfully operate a drone-sharing platform in compliance with regulatory standards, we must ensure strict adherence to FAA and FCC requirements, particularly concerning pilot certification, BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight) operations, Remote ID compliance, and robust safety and privacy protocols.

Remote Pilot Certificates

Hummingbird addresses these regulatory needs by requiring that all drone operators accessing our platform possess FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificates, which we verify digitally.

Beyond Visual Line of Sight

We will obtain specific FAA waivers to legally conduct BVLOS drone flights, ensuring operational safety and regulatory alignment.

Remote ID technology

Our drones will be equipped with FAA-compliant Remote ID technology, facilitating real-time identification and ensuring airspace accountability.

Privacy & Safety

Additionally, our platform integrates safety measures such as geofencing, detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), comprehensive insurance coverage, and clearly defined privacy policies.

These proactive steps maintain immediate regulatory compliance, but also establish a solid foundation for scalable growth as drone regulations continue to evolve.

Regulatory track & risk mitigation

  • Remote ID & Part 107 – ArduPilot firmware with an attached Dronetag beacon meets FAA Remote ID broadcast requirements today (ardupilot.org). BVLOS waiver prep starts once autonomous dock reliability > 95 %.

  • Hardware certification – Leverage ASTM F3548 “Standard Practice for Operational Risk Assessment of Small UAS” during design freeze; engage a Part 135 consultancy in Q4 ’25.

  • Supply‑chain resilience – Publish open BOM with dual‑sourced motors/ESCs; battery packs specced to IEC 62133‑2.

  • Import/export risk – Avoid Chinese‑made OEM drones subject to potential US import holds (commercialuavnews.com).

  • Weather & vandalism – Prototype dock built to IP‑54 with surge/lighting protection; plan mesh network to detect offline stations.
